Neckarsulm, 24th July 2024 – Cloud solutions are an essential part of future-proof digitalization. These solutions must meet exacting demands for availability, confidentiality and integrity of data, especially in public administration. With its in-house model, govdigital reaches the federal government, all federal states and around 85 percent of all local authorities in Germany via its 28 members. Last week, the cooperative accepted the bid from BTC Business Technology Consulting AG to become the central cloud broker for access to cloud solutions – for the next four years. With den gd.Cloud-Broker BTC offers an easy gateway to the cloud for govdigital members, including access to the offerings from STACKIT.
Digitalization from Germany for Powerful Digital Administration
Cities, municipalities and state and federal institutions will enjoy quick and simple access to the sovereign and high-performance offerings from STACKIT. “For the digital transformation of the public sector the digital sovereignty is essential,” says Christian Müller, Co-CEO of Schwarz Digits, the IT and digital division of Schwarz Group, to which STACKIT belongs. “STACKIT can help public administration bodies to effectively and reliably drive their journey to the cloud without making any compromises in terms of security and sovereignty.”
STACKIT headquarters are and will remain in Germany. Data will only be stored and processed in Germany. STACKIT is subject to strict German and European data privacy regulations, with no constraints. The company acts independently of data privacy agreements with other countries, which are strongly shaped by regional politics. Software suppliers headquartered outside the EU are unable to match this level of sovereignty.
Outside the public sector as well: Improved GPU Performance at STACKIT for Increased Demands of AI Models
Performance is just as critical a factor as sovereignty when choosing a cloud provider. Artificial intelligence applications in particular process very large amounts of data. As the AI models become increasingly complex, they require more computing power. Graphics processors (GPUs) play a particularly important role, as they are capable of parallel processing.
“A strong GPU portfolio is indispensable for the development and operation of generative AI,” emphasizes Robin Hermann, Member of the Executive Board at STACKIT. “Hardware forms the basis for digital sovereignty. In Germany, we need to ensure that we set ourselves up strongly to remain independent and competitive with regard to developments in artificial intelligence.” The next two months will see STACKIT expand its existing GPU portfolio with more high-performance GPUs from Nvidia. This demonstrates how the company is anticipating rising performance requirements to continue to offer customers a broad selection for AI use cases.
