Expansion at Schwarz Digits: Defence Unit to be Led by Harald Mannheim

Schwarz Digits, the IT and digital division of the Schwarz Group, is strengthening its executive leadership in the strategically important security and defence sector: Harald Mannheim is taking on the role of Head of Defence at Schwarz Digits. In this role, the experienced industry expert will be responsible for the consistent expansion of business operations in Germany and Europe. The focus is on developing sovereign, highly secure IT infrastructure solutions and other supporting services for armed forces, intelligence services and public safety agencies (BOS), as well as for companies in the defence industry. Most recently, Mannheim served as Senior Vice President of the ‘Defence Digital and Cyber’ business unit at Airbus Defence and Space. There, he was responsible for programs in the areas of IT system integration, software solutions, and cyber resilience. Prior to that, he held various leadership positions in the private sector and the military.

Schwarz Digits, the IT and digital division of Schwarz Group, has achieved a groundbreaking success for the digital transformation of administration and healthcare in Germany. As part of an EU-wide tender by GovTech Deutschland, the in-house cloud provider STACKIT was selected as part of the multi-cloud portfolio of the contracted Bechtle AG. The framework agreement, with a total volume of up to 250 million euros, ensures standardized and sovereign access to highly scalable infrastructure and AI services for government agencies at the federal, state, and local levels.

Schwarz Digits, the IT and digital division of the Schwarz Group, and Strategisch Leveranciersmanagement Rijk (SLM Rijk), part of the Ministry of Justice and Security, have signed a framework agreement, paving the way for greater digital sovereignty in Europe. Following a successful review process, this framework agreement provides a solid base for using the Stackit Public Cloud in a compliant manner. With this decision, the Dutch Ministry of Justice confirms STACKIT as a sovereign alternative to non-European cloud providers. The collaboration is based on a comprehensive Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA)review conducted by the independent Privacy Company.
